Industry Overview
Semiconductors are at the core of many industrial systems, widely applied in critical sectors like computing, telecommunications, consumer electronics, automotive, industrial/medical, and military/government applications. Semiconductor manufacturing facilities use a large number of critical equipment, power electronics, and involve complex processes. Power Quality Issues
Production equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing, such as single crystal furnaces, multi-crystal furnaces, IC testing stations, PLC-controlled robotic arms, wafer machines, or frequency-controlled semiconductor machines, generates significant harmonics. Most single crystal furnaces use medium-frequency induction heating, where the main circuit includes rectifiers and inverters, producing harmonics primarily in the 5th, 7th, 11th, and 13th orders. The harmonic current distortion rate is usually above 30%, which is very high.

It uses various electronic devices, integrated circuits, and automated systems. The production process involves critical equipment and systems like power supply, transportation, ultra-pure water, vacuum, air cooling, and special gas distribution. Due to its reliance on power, semiconductor manufacturing demands high power quality.
Equipment such as single crystal furnaces generates harmonics, which can cause malfunctions, overheating of components, unstable voltage, and even production stoppages or product scrap, leading to significant losses.
