Power Quality Issues

  • Induction Furnaces & Rolling Mills
  • These systems typically use 6-pulse or 12-pulse converters. 6-pulse systems primarily generate 5th, 7th, 11th, and 13th-order harmonics. 12-pulse systems mainly generate 11th and 13th-order harmonics.
  • Electric Arc Furnaces
  • These generate large amounts of harmonic currents while also exhibiting three-phase imbalance and asymmetry. The main harmonics include third-order and its multiples, along with some even-order harmonics.

            Metallurgical loads fluctuate rapidly, with frequent startups and shutdowns of induction furnaces, rolling mills, and electric arc furnaces.
